Dr. Michelle Yunjung You was born in the fall of 1979 in Seoul, Korea and grew up there. She spent her childhood years experiencing the Korean education system that is well known for being highly competitive and went on to study at the prestigious Ewha Womans University for her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Seoul. Right after getting married, she moved to the US and lived in West Lafayette, Indiana for about 9 years where she studied at Purdue University to earn her Master's degree in Gifted Education and Ph.D. in Second Language Studies. Moving to Mankato, Minnesota, she worked as a faculty member in the English Department at Minnesota State University, Mankato for a year.
